DIY Tint your Eyebrows at Home

Eyebrow tinting is the new form of eyebrow shaping. Tint can be done for people suffering from light eyebrows.

The bold look is preferred by most of the women nowadays. Tinting your eyebrows can make you look gorgeous.

Eyebrow tinting is a process of applying a semi-permanent dye on your eyebrows to define its shape and your natural arch. It takes about 10 minutes at the saloon but if you try at home it might take longer.

You can do it yourself at home using a tint kit that is available at the beauty market.

The tint can last until four to six weeks. During this period the dye slowly fades away. Hair dye can react differently to different people.

To make your tint last as long as possible, keep your brows completely dry for 12 hours after tinting. It is best to avoid oil-based make-up during the tint.

How to Tint your Eyebrows at Home?

We have suggested some methods to tint your brows at home. Try any one of it and comment on.

The simple tint

Things you need-

  • Spoolie
  • Eyebrow tint kit
  • Stopwatch
  • Paper towels
  • Shampoo
  • Cleanser

Step 1: Run the spoolie over your eyebrows

Run the spoolie gently over your eyebrows to get started.

Make sure that your eyebrows are clean and completely dry before you start tinting.

Petroleum jelly should be applied around the eyebrows and not on it.

Step 2: Preparing the tint

Open the tint kit. You will find that the kit consists of a tube of tint (color), a tube of developer cream, a tiny bowl, and a small wooden stick.

Since we’re going for a simple tint you should add equal amounts of color and developer cream.

The consistency obtained should be that of a thick paste.

Step 3: Apply the tint

Use the stick to apply the paste to your eyebrow from the inner corner towards the outside

Wipe the extra using the paper towel.

For a natural-looking effect, don’t dip the stick into fresh paste while applying on to the outer corners.

Instead, use leftover tint on the stick to cover the outer corner.

Step 4: Let it rest

The time required to leave the color depends on the product.

Follow the instructions given in your kit. Usually, the time required is about 10 minutes.

Use the stopwatch to track your time.

Step 5: Clean your Eyebrows

Use a wet paper towel to gently wipe the color away after the timer has stopped.

If you find it difficult to get all of the colors out, use a mild solution of shampoo in water to clean your eyebrows.

Step 6: Repeat

Repeat the process on the second eyebrow.

Wait for the same amount of time as on the first eyebrow before getting the color out.

Step 7: Final look

Look at the mirror and check if both eyebrows are done right.

Tint for tweezing and Plucking

Tweezing or Plucking is not allowed during the tint. But if you really want to do it then this method is the best for you.

Step 1: Mark your eyebrows

Trace an imaginary line or mark two points at the extreme ends of your eyebrow using a pen.

One point at the side of nose and the other near the scalp.

Connect the two points.

The area enclosed by the line connecting the two points and the arch of your eyebrow (form a triangle. This area should not be Tweezed or Plucked during the tint process.

You can remove hair outside this area.

Step 2: Preparing the tint

Like mentioned earlier if you are using petroleum jelly to avoid skin discoloration, make sure you restrict it to that region and not on the eyebrows that are to be tinted.

Make a paste of the color and developer cream into a paste with good consistency.

Step 3: Apply the tint

Apply the paste to your eyebrow starting from inwards to outwards.

Step 4: Leave it to rest

Now let it rest to get the right tint largely depends on the product.

Just check the instructions on the kit. The standard time is about 10-15 minutes.

Step 5: Clean your eyebrows

Using a paper towel gently wipe away the color once the time’s up.

you could probably wash it off with a mild shampoo.

Step 6: Final look

Check whether the eyebrows are done right with the help of a mirror.
